Landscape
A key responsibility of wind energy projects is the accurate demonstration of how the proposed project will appear. Our experienced technical team offers a range of affordable services to achieve this:
Landscape Character and Amenity Assessment
A proper understanding of the area a wind energy development is located in is an important foundation for any project. The designated character of an area forms an important consideration when assessing the impact of a development. Its relationship with significant amenity features will also help establish the suitability of the project.
Zone of Theoretical Visibility (ZTV) Maps
A computer generated tool to identify the area which the wind energy development could theoretically be seen from. It is derived from 3D digital terrain model, which accurately displays the topographical composition of an area.
ZTV maps play a crucial role in identifying the potential visual impact of a wind energy development. It identifies sensitive visual receptors which may be affected by the wind energy development.
The cumulative impact of wind energy developments can be graphically represented for a given area. This may involve un-associated wind energy developments in the area. This service helps place the impact of the development into the wider impact narrative.
Viewpoints
The identification and analysis of viewpoints contributes to the understanding of the impact a development will have on its surrounds. Selections of viewpoints are gained through the determination of a diverse range of information.
A range of viewpoints will be produced to help deliver an accurate demonstration of the impact of the development. These viewpoints form the basis for visualisations and photomontages.
Photomontages and Wireframes
Photomontages are a useful tool in helping visualise a proposed development. Graphical representations of wind turbines are overlaid on photos to produce accurate depictions of what the wind energy development would look like.
This method, unlike the ZTV, incorporates terrain features such as house and trees to give a more visually representative impression of the development.
